Celebrating Neonatal Nurses Day

National Neonatal Nurses Day is celebrated on September 15th every year!  This year, I decided to craft up some yummy treats to honor the wonderful nurses and nurse practitioners on our unit.  Thankfully, I had some help (thanks Jess)!!

Let me start with, I love my Cricut!  My friend introduced me to the wonderful machine and I haven't looked back.  I use it for all holidays, celebrations, and general decorations around the unit (and my house).  It makes the job so much easier when you are crafting for 50 patients, or in this case, 150 staff members!

We Love Our Nurses to "Pieces"

First, I started with a simple Pinterest search and found this cute phrase for Nurses Week (that happens in May).  Simple, fun and just all around cute!

We don't have a large budget for things like this on our unit and so it needed to be smaller.  We decided to use the Reese Pieces Snack Size.  Perfect size for just a little treat.  PROBLEM: they are very HARD to find unless there is a holiday coming up!  After searching Target, Walmart and grocery stores, we bought them from Groovy Candies (http://www.groovycandies.com).  The company was great and the candy wasn't melted when it arrived (bonus)!

Next, to make the tags,  They had to be something cute, but not too big because the candies were in small pouches.  So, I grabbed my Cricut and started cutting.  After a few ideas, these were the winners.

Assemble!  We decided to hand write each tag to make it more personable and added the name of each Nurse/NP, to ensure that everyone had one.
